This is one of those unending frustrations. Ritual training is not Masonic education. Ritual training is teaching what the ritual is (this year in this jurisdiction) with a good mentor mixing in the education of what it means.
Masonic education starts with what the ritual means (to one...
Illinois mandated education in every Stated meeting.
Some lodges said "This meeting was brought to you by the letter G. You will see the letter G up in the East. Thank you." These lodges got no benefit whatsoever from the effort. Mocking does not benefit.
Other lodges got brothers involved...
In the past I have viewed various appendent bodies as having various prices. In a sense YR is for the financial elite compared to the SR because of the uniforms. Just like the Shrine marching clubs are because of the price of their equipment.
From the outside (I am SR and Shrine but not in a...
Once I handed in my position I started showing up and helping out in the kitchen while the members were upstairs in the members-only section of the meeting. I didn't tend to think of that in terms of the work I put into Masonry as I had not yet heard the expression "You get out of Masonry what...
The responses and discourses in a Table Lodge are intended to be material that can be discussed in a tiled space so that's not what a Table Lodge is about. The content of the material presented is thus very different in a Table Lodge versus a Festive Board. At a non-tiled Festive Board no one...
Fail RESOLUTION NO. 3 pg 64 Assessment to repair the GL building
That's a topic discussed many times on this forum. IMO it's an albatross. My bias - One of my jurisdictions flourishes with only a tiny leased office space.
Fail RESOLUTION NO. 5 pg 67 Transferable endowed membership
IMO if...
I take it there was not enough opposition to bother with a written ballot on the matter? If that's the case then the vote was not counted and the only result was "pass".
Would any Texas PM be willing to submit on the topic of blanket recognition?
We are now in the Jan-Apr window to discuss legislation for submission next year. I'm a PM in California and Illinois but not in Texas so I can't submit in Texas.
The mechanics of blanket recognition is it...
We are not to discuss partisan politics or sectarian religion. Notice the qualifiers. Teaching the basic civics of one's country is not a sectarian political issue.
It is SUPER easy to cross the line when discussing civics to end up partisan but it doable with care. It is even harder to stay...
This combines at least three issues -
1) If Texas has an act-like-the-locals rule then the locals have recognition and you're good. This has been addressed in this forum before I don't remember the answer off the top of my head.
2) I've never seen the Texas list for recognition of PHA...
MWPHAGLofTX has Quarterly Communication; GLofTX has Annual Communication. In most states that have visitation the grand lines attend each others' GL meetings. Grand lines this year - Please prepare your calendars accordingly! Which quarterly would you like our grand line to attend?

I recommend Maxey Lodge near the back of Joint Base Lackland a couple blocks from IS-410 and US-90 on the west side of town. Dress to the nines and bring your gloves.
How soon until I can get together with some brothers and visit one of the...
There was a degree conducted at the quarterly communication and you were an exemplar? That's as cool as an entire iceberg.
Welcome again, and again, to the family thrice adopted brother.
My mother lodge uses a set of gold tone on velvet for installation and OV, a set of of silver tone on velvet for degrees and a set on blue rope for stated meetings, practices and for one person during a specific degree. Sets build up after consolidations so may as well put the better ones to use.
A bit of perspective - The Master Mason degree is the end of the degree work, but it is also the beginning of the life work of a new brother. There's always more. Part of why brothers go to other Masonic organizations is for more. But most of the more stuff is how you live your life and how...
They have to know it's happening to have anything to react to. Likely no one has said anything to the DDGM or run it further up the chain of command. And then if the lodge has been near failure for years they might chose to be generous and cut the lodge slack.
If there are no candidates for...
