A little tip for you is to not forget the Website of your own Grand Lodge as they often list the Grand Lodges with whom they are in amity.

Random Freemasons who have never met you (and from other countries) cannot vouch for you. You have to approach Freemasons in your own country and meet them in real life.
Sorry but isn't this illegal?? If, as I suspect, it is illegal this means that you are breaking the Law which would tend to be an automatic no from Freemasons.
My usual advice to guys in your position is to have a look on Ebay or abebooks to see if your prospective Grand Lodge has a published history. Leave everything else to the proper system which is going through the degree ceremonies which will be delivered to you by your prospective Lodge.

Also worth noting that although Bro. Dermott found his masonic fame in London England, he was actually IPRd in a Lodge in Dublin (years before he moved to London) under the Irish Constitution and it was Irish practises he was following with his new Grand Lodge.
If I was you, I would phone whoever you've been liaising with and have a chat with them about it. It is very likely that the Lodge itself has not been meeting anyway.
