DFW area

There is a good chance in the next year we will be relocating to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The question i have for mt texas Brethren is what area should we look for houses?

Its not for certain but it looks like my girlfriends new office will be in the Plano area. We are looking for a nice quiet suburb that isnt big city but not rural either. Myself i would like to be directed to a vibrant younger lodge in the area..

i am really excited and hope this does come to pass. Any suggestions?

We just moved to Grapevine, which is really great. It would be a 30-40 minute commute on the tollway. Eventually 635 construction will be completed and that will make the commute much more bearable. I haven't been to the local Lodge (I'm at Sam P. Cochran #1335 in Dallas, but plan to check it out sometime soon).

Frisco is a pretty cool area. Don't know about the Lodge, but Lewisville and The Colony are right nearby and I am pretty sure they have very active Lodges. Frisco will get you a great home, schools are great and the community is very warm.

I live in the Keller area over on the west side of DFW. The Colony is pretty nice. Carrollton and Frisco are pretty nice if you've got the green for it. I have an old coworker that lives in Flower Mound and commutes to Plano for work and they love it. Flower Mound is one of those "used to be country, but is now really, really nice, but still kinda mixed" kinda cities. Lots of great communities there.

I have heard good things about the Rowlett area. What do you think about that area?

Rowlett is pretty nice. I'm not super familiar with that area, but it borders on Rockwall, which is way nice.
DFW covers a massive area. It depends on what you want to be close to. I live clear on the other side of DFW (Rowlett is on the far east side of dallas and i'm on the north side of fort worth). Currently, it would take me 1.5+ hours to make it there by highway.
What part of DFW do you need to be near?

EDIT: oh yeah, i saw in an above post that you need to be near plano. Rowett wouldn't be a bad choice. Cost of living is fairly high in that area (but at least your right by a nice lake!) and it's probably only about 15 min from plano. The downside is the road between is a tollway so there's that. It's nice to be that close to dallas, but far enough that you don't feel like you're in the big city.

Check out Mckinney, Allen and a smaller community named Howe. Howe is still pretty small but for what you're lookin for it may fit your bill. Still want to more urbanized but not right next to her work you may go further north to Sherman. Longer commute but a straight shot to Plano.
