People don't realize how much planning and time it takes to be Master of a Lodge. It's more then just showing up once a month and putting on a hat. It takes good planning and a good supporting cast of officers.
I think Dan Brown understands Freemasonry, and see us in our true light. Usually, it's factions within the Catholic Church he paints as the bad guys. But, I do believe he is pro-Masonry.
Might be interested in the lights. Our lights have a short in one of them. So one light sometimes takes a special combination of tapping. It's another Lodge secret. lol
Our youngest MM is also a DeMoley. I know they are usually hurting for Advisors, and sometimes members as well. I know here in Waco, the Chapter was in danger of going dark due to the absence of Advisors. They have Advisors now, but now they need DeMoleys.
While I am not a DeMoley, I have...
Miller's biography on the State Legislature site does not mention he is a Mason. So it looks kind of like you should be getting ready for a good laugh. From what I'm reading, it could be $22 a plate that will be going to the State of Texas General Fund, that could be going to Masonic...
Congrats on beginning your travels!! You will find there are a lot of people that don't understand Masonry. There are anti-masonic groups and websites devoted into preaching the "truth" about Masonry. They all use the same lame excuse when you tell them as a Mason they don't know what they...
I don't know. I would think if it did, that GL would be getting their cut of the money after fees. I do know the Sid Miller, the Rep who filed the bill, is from Stephenville. Any brothers from around Stephenville that might know if Sid Miller is a Mason or not?
You could still do something like that, just have to get things set up to begin with.
For the Texas Masons, I think everyone would need Certificates of Good Standing from their Lodge before going, and I think it would have to be forwarded from our GL to their GL since it spans Grand...
I think many lodges do something like that now. I know that many of the brothers from Ft. Worth Lodge are also members of Tarrant, almost like they have a double lodge.
My lodge meets at the Lee Lockwood Museum here in Waco as do 2 other lodges. All 3 of us interact with each other and are...
Just remember before one of us takes off to Mars, they get special deputization powers from the GM to claim Mars for Texas like Bro. Aldren did with the Moon. How cool would it be to be a member Mons Olympus Lodge #2001?
Really when you look at it there is only one legitimate arguement against homosexuality, and that's would be that it does not promote procreation. So the only real threat of homosexuality is population growth. But considering most say the world is overpopulated as is, that really takes away...
Welcome Andrew!! I would listen to Brother Kenneth's advise. Go visit with some local Masons, it's the best way to get a feel for them. If you don't know of any local Masons, just go visit the lodge or call them. And I say "know of" instead of just "know", because you know Masons, you just...
