    Oh My God (Spin Off)

Just MHO, but I think those that would push their religion or belief system on others are looking for some sort of confirmation that their way is the correct way. They are insecure in their own minds as to what they believe.

    Crossing the Line

Brother Sirius, you paint with a pretty wide brush. I doubt seriously that all the "younger" Masons are devoid of bigotry.

What does this quote mean to you?

Speaking of time...... 20 seconds from now you don't know what you are going to say or think. So who's in charge?????

    Something to think about

I wouldn't think an EA or FC could tile a lodge in my jurisdiction. Think of the JD's response to "how the lodge is tiled"? If you had a late arriving Brother and an EA as tiler how could the EA know if the Brother was a FC or a MM?

    Membership Stats

Thank you. It would have been better if I had asked why you see membership loss bottoming out in 5 years. I would be most happy if I saw the same in my state, Fla. I agree with your assessment about age and the retention problem. I have come to the conclusion that loss of membership is...

Masons look to rebuild reputation of service

I don't know about "quickly", but in my area it has been a gradual decline until it is now accepted by most of our own members that we are a "service organization", fostered in part by Grand Lodge. Publicity= members. It amazes me that some think because of this, men will be suddenly inspired...

Masons look to rebuild reputation of service

IMO the WMs idea that Freemasonry is a "community service organization" is an example of the problems we are facing today. We are not the same as the Lions or Rotary clubs, the Salvation Army etc.

    Dress Attire Revisited

Suits and sportscoats can be bought very cheap on ebay so I don't see cost as a factor.

    Updated Statistics: 2008

Wasn't it just a few years ago that Ohio was raising several thousand in one day in the whole state???? Interesting to note the losses that have occurred there. I'll stand by quality over quantity.

    Advertising for Masonry?

I am not advocating doing nothing. I am saying that, in my jurisdiction, being selective is not of the most importance. QUOTEWhat does that statement have to do with informing the public about Masonry and how to become one?QUOTE. My statement had nothing to do with informing the public. It...

    Advertising for Masonry?

The old axiom; Throw enough against the wall and something is bound to stick???

    Advertising for Masonry?

I am concerned about an influx of members because, at least in my jurisdiction, the emphasis is on quantity rather than quality of members. I have long been of the opinion that the big increase in membership after WW2 is one of the worst things to happen to Freemasonry. It gave a false sense...

    Certification

Yes. there was a time when more members held proficiency cards etc. I can't speak to Texas, but in my jurisdiction, change came about when Freemasonry became obsessed with quantity vs quality of its membership. Just my opinion.
