Michigan Mason visiting Ontario?

Good afternoon, brethren!

I'm a relatively new Master Mason from the State of Michigan and I am within two hours of the Canadian border. It's been my dream since I was initiated to travel to other jurisdictions once I was raised.

Are there any brothers here who would be able to give insight on the process for an F. & A. M. Mason from Michigan to visit a lodge under the Grand Lodge A. F. & A. M. of Canada (Ontario)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Since you border a jurisdiction in another country I would suggest checking with your Grand Secretary. They likely already have procedures in place for Brothers to visit across the border. Visitation is great. Seeing the differences and the similarities in other workings gives you a great perspective. They also usually feed visitors really well!

Absolutely! Now that I'm a new Master Mason, I want to visit everywhere I can. Thanks for the tip!

I am here in North Carolina. 2 years ago I was visiting friends in Ottawa and visited a lodge there. All I did was obtain the name and address of the secretary of the Canadian lodge and notified my Grand Lodge who sent me a letter of introduction and sent a copy to the lodge in Ottawa. It was the most enjoyable night I have ever had in Masonry.

Definitely good to know! I ended up getting in touch with my Grand Secretary and they walked me through getting the letter of introduction to send to the PGL of Ontario.

You are going to experience a most wonderful masonic event. Our Canadian brothers are very warm and hospitable. I brought a lapel pin as a token of brotherly love for the Worshipful Master of the lodge. It was crossed American and Canadian flags with the square and compass. I also learned some toasts for the dinner time if you are going for the meal to honor their Queen. When I attended the meeting in Ottawa, they were gracious enough to play our national anthem as well as their anthem at the conclusion of the lodge meeting. Enjoy brother.
