Probably for the same reason I always do now that I started wearing glasses since the flash is magnified by them and about kills me! lol
For many people it's an automatic reaction but sometimes it's just a matter of luck that the picture was taken while he was blinking. There's 6 lodges in San Antonio. You can find a list of them along with contact information on the Grand Lodge website.
