closing a Legion of Honor unit

Today, I had to perform a sad duty. More than 35 years ago I joined the Shrine Legion of Honor. For those who don't know, the LOH is the veterans unit of Shrine. At the time we had about 60 members. We led many parades and participated in countless other events. As the years went by our members started dying off. Few were replaced by younger veterans joining. This is typical of most veterans organizations these days. Today, as the last Commander of the unit I sent a letter informing LOH hq and our affiliated temple that our charter would not be renewed. I feel a real sense of loss.

Sorry for your loss Bro. I have never been a member of a lodge or masonic group which closed, but have seen it; a sad moment.
