Being Senior Deacon in Two Degrees....Lots of Work...lol

Well, I am really stoked about my experience tonight. A good friend of mine that I have known since middle school was finally initiated tonight. Yesterday, the WM asked me if I wanted to be the Senior Deacon during his degree. I haven't had the opportunity to hold any lodge office yet, but axiously took up the chance to be that part in his first steps into his Masonic journey.

Having only the knowledge of what I have sat through in lodge, I met with the WM and practiced my part for two hours early this afternoon. Then tonight before we got started, I found out that another candidate was going to be initiated immediately following my friend and I would be doing the same for him. I was already nervous enough doing it for my friend and the news of the second candidate really made me start sweating under the arms...lol Plus, our DDGM was present as well.

It was a great experience, and honored to be able to take such a part in my friend's first degree. Doing two of those degrees in one night felt like a ton of work and I am mentally exhausted now, but I think I did pretty good (got a lot of compliments from everyone present). I really learned a lot just getting to take that role. I think that Masonry and my friend will both benefit greatly from each other and I was proud to be there doing what I did tonight.

(Still just really excited and had to share with somebody before I exploded...lol Jeez, I really like Masonry)

Congrats Brother! I just took part in my first degree a few days ago. It is great to be apart of the ritual like that. I loved every second of it and had a blast. Now that the hard part is out of the way we just need more degrees to be a part of.

Good show Brother Mike! That's what I call a big step forward. Senior Deacon has been my most pleasurable position to date. I've probably worked 30 degrees or so thus far. In three different lodges. And, I'm ready for 30 more. It never grows tiring to walk with a brother through the next big experience in his masonic life.

Those candidates will always remember that it was you who brought them through the door of Masonry- congratulations!

Congrats Brother! I have had the pleasure in being the Sr. Deacon in the 1st section in all 3 degrees for several of our brothers and let me tell you I enjoy it every single time I do it! (to me that's the most important part of the degrees) I just recently started learning the 2nd section of the FC degree and have been asked by my WM if I was ready to confer a EA degree? I feel honored when they ask me to do this and I give it my all to make sure that the candidate/brother get the very best degree that I can provide him!

Thanks for your participation Brother Lottman. You are truly enjoying the wages of a Master Mason. It thrills older brethren (like ole Brother Bill_Lins77488) to see the younger brethren stepping out. All too often folks just don't want to pay the price. You'll know those second sections before you know it. Expect the thrill of your life when you've carried your first candidate from initiation to the sublime degree, including teaching him his esoteric work. That when those wages fill up all your coffers!

P.S. Throw in a "good show" for me to all those wise brothers in your lodge who are bring you forward. These masons are the bedrock of the craft. It's always the measure of a man when he is able to relinquish the reigns and place them in the hands of the future. That's true mettle.
