Well, I am really stoked about my experience tonight. A good friend of mine that I have known since middle school was finally initiated tonight. Yesterday, the WM asked me if I wanted to be the Senior Deacon during his degree. I haven't had the opportunity to hold any lodge office yet, but axiously took up the chance to be that part in his first steps into his Masonic journey.
Having only the knowledge of what I have sat through in lodge, I met with the WM and practiced my part for two hours early this afternoon. Then tonight before we got started, I found out that another candidate was going to be initiated immediately following my friend and I would be doing the same for him. I was already nervous enough doing it for my friend and the news of the second candidate really made me start sweating under the arms...lol Plus, our DDGM was present as well.
It was a great experience, and honored to be able to take such a part in my friend's first degree. Doing two of those degrees in one night felt like a ton of work and I am mentally exhausted now, but I think I did pretty good (got a lot of compliments from everyone present). I really learned a lot just getting to take that role. I think that Masonry and my friend will both benefit greatly from each other and I was proud to be there doing what I did tonight.
(Still just really excited and had to share with somebody before I exploded...lol Jeez, I really like Masonry)
