    Making a mason at sight

I found an interesting article on this subject. Though not involving Masons in Texas it is interesting as it about one of our Presidents. http://www.masonicdictionary.com/sight.html

    One Day Classes

Same here. I really enjoyed the Scottish Rite degrees I experienced but to be honest, my travels through all the degrees and orders in the York Rite were more memorable. It took me almost a year to complete them all.

    Lodge Membership

In another thread, a discussion ran into maybe we have too many lodges. The thought being we needed to consolidate the smaller lodges into larger ones in the same area. That in turn led me to wonder what are the largest lodges in Texas by membership. I have compiled a small list using the...

    Removing a Member

I concur. We have enough issues with lodges closing without trying to expedite the process. :)

    Removing a Member

I understand the "normal" reasons for closing / consolidating a lodge. I guess what I was asking is, what guidelines he thought should be used for solving the "too many lodges" and why some people think we have too many lodges?

    Removing a Member

Interesting thought. I have heard this sentiment expressed before. Out of curiosity, what would you use as a criteria for closing / consolidating a lodge or lodges?

    Gorgeous Aprons

Would it be proper for everyone to pics of say the WM's apron from their lodges? I think it would interesting to see the variety, even though there are GL guidelines pertaining to their design and form.

    Gorgeous Aprons

To me, this is the finest looking apron I have ever seen. It's the one presented to me when I was raised.

Would you purchase a Texas Freemason License Plate?

Re: Texas Freemason License Plate-Revisited We are about the only organization that does NOT have a Texas specialty plate. You would think in these times where the "powers to be" want to promote Texas Masonry someone at the state level would have stepped up and got this accomplished. Just my...

    Refusing...

Just an interesting note. I recently visited a lodge I had never been to before nor did I know anyone at the lodge. I did know the candidate that was being intiated and thus the reason for my being there. I introduced myself to everyone. No one ask for verification of my standing as a MM. As we...

    Taking the Plunge Too

I am in the same position. I joined the YR first as we have a local chapter held at a local lodge. I am also a member of the Houston SR but it is a 2 hour drive minimum and there is no way I can get off in time to make the meetings on Thursdays so natuarally I am not active. I plan to remain a...

    Internet Lodge under UGLE

Would this not fall into a situation that required this to be conducted through the GLoT according to our Texas Masonic law? Off the GLoT Website: Note:-- Masonic Protocol requires that any and all Masonic Communications with other Grand Jurisdictions MUST BE SENT THROUGH THE GRAND...

    East Gate Lodge #1153

Does anybody have any information on East Gate Lodge #1153 in the Houston area. It does not show up in the lodge locator on the GL website so I am guessing it was merged with another lodge. The reason I ask is, I have a photo given to me by my uncle, who is 77, that was taken in that lodge...
