Any Brethren in Myanmar (Burma)

Although banned by the Junta, recent opening of the country and influx of expats should surely mean there are some masons in Myanmar. I have located one brother, we are searching for more for a get together. Message me if you are An Expat Mason now in Myanmar and would like to meet other bros.

If it is an illegal activity in your country why would you ask if there are any Freemasons there???

Mike, it's illegal to have working lodges and be a member of a Burmese lodge. Not if you've been initiated elsewhere in thy world. I'm mearly looking for masons that have come from elsewhere to create friendships and share our experiences of living here.

Thanks for your concern,

I think you should consider that even as an expat or visitor it might well be (and probably is) illegal to practice masonry. I would even be very careful to openly show you are one as that might be considered subversive, anti-state, illegal etc.

I think there is a very big misunderstanding here, possibly due to my wording, ill keep editing the original post. I am not "practising" masonry. I am just calling out to other masons who are in the country to meet, like members of a football fan club, or chartered accountants or anyone else than have a common bond. This is not illegal. You can trust me on that. By the way, as masons we are part of a universal brotherhood of man, under God. Irrespective of where we meet, we are always welcome to befriend like minded members of any society.
Again, for the record, this is purely recreational and unofficial gathering!
So, any masons in Myanmar either visiting or working here PM me :)

Im not saying that meeting likeminded people is illegal. It must be my non native english. But what i am saying is that even if it seems illegal to dictatorial governments, they seem to do things their way. You meeting masons can be judged in a different light then 'you meeting friends'. And i have no guarantees that myanmar officials arent looking online to see what the internet traffic on the myanmar network contains, and who is connecting whom about what. Just be careful.

I can see where you're coming from, brother and you have a valid point. Although it's highly unlikely for officials to be reading this or keeping track of everyone's posts regarding topics that are no longer a "threat" , even if they did it's not against any laws. Thank you for your insights though

I’ve heard rumors that “social” meetings of Masons were attempted on a “secret” basis in a Middle Eastern kingdom - the brothers were caught and eventually expelled and lost their employment
